As well as being a personal trainer, I am the instructor for Jado Kuin Do in Harpenden. I run a children’s class (for ages 5-12), an adults class (including children aged 13 years upwards) and black belt classes for advanced students. In addition I run a class at Roundwood Primary School. For more information please read this page or to book a free taster session please click here. To find out more about the World Jado Organisation please go to the head office Jado website. Jado is a structured martial art, based on kung fu, that provides a progressive way to develop your skills and fitness. And you can progress to black belt and beyond if you work hard!
All Jado instructors are DBS/CRB checked (updated annually) and certified first aiders as well as being WJO Certified Instructors who have practiced Jado Kuin Do for a minimum of 5 years. I have been an instructor since 2009.
Classes are paid for by monthly direct debit (£36 per month) and an annual licence (£30 per year) is required (additional fees for black belt training). Discounts are available for multiple attendance and for multiple family member attendance.
To start with no special clothing is needed. Just wear tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt and bring some water. We train barefoot or in black Feiyue shoes. Once you’ve decided to sign up with us you will want to purchase our uniform or “gi” and within a year or so a sparring kit from the Jado Shop.
We operate to a centrally designed syllabus and grade three times per year typically in February, June and September although these dates vary from year to year. Our academy runs in Harpenden on Mondays.
Classes run at Southdown Methodist Halls, 130a Southdown Road, Harpenden AL5 1PU. This is right next door to the Cooperative supermarket and can be accessed at the back via the Coop car park ~ there is extensive parking available. The hall is upstairs on the 1st floor and a lift is also available.
